@C2: the only problem with this should be to keep the name of the pages since you probably have some traffic from search engines and you need to keep it. One of the most important issues with rebuilding a site is to keep the same page names, file names, I mean so you won't lose the traffic from Google and Yahoo! But can be solved.

Everybody is talking about making static websites IN a CMS. Now what happends if i have a static site with layout and want to use WorldpressCMS to administer the pages. The website im talking about is a old plain html site, nothing fancy. But i'd like to allow the HRM managers too maintain the website. Im looking at different CMS systems but i can't make up my mind on which to use.

Indeed, some websites can not be built on CMS systems, but let's face it, most websites that people need can be built on WordPress, Joomla, Mambo, etc and provide more than is really needed. Plus that you find a lot of ways to extend such a platform, like plugins, themes, a fan community, a developer community, everybody and everything just to help you. So, unless you really need a custom solution for your site, you will probably be safer with a CMS

Those are good points on why people should use WordPress for static pages. I also think that sometimes its better to use existing CMS platform to create a static page instead of creating that system from the scratch. Of course custom solutions also have many advantages, so i guess it depends on the client and what hey need and what they want to achieve.
